Program overview
The YSEALI Professional Fellows Program is a two-way, global exchange program designed to promote mutual understanding, enhance leadership and professional skills, as well as build lasting, sustainable partnerships between mid-level emerging leaders from foreign countries and the United States. The YSEALI Professional Fellows Program brings emerging leaders from around the world to the United States for intensive five-to-six week fellowships designed to broaden their professional skills and expertise. An integral part of the two-way program is for American participants who have hosted foreign fellows to travel overseas for participant-driven reciprocal programs.
The benefit for participants
- Will be working full time at an agency in the United States and have the opportunity to learn to improve professional skills.
- The program is fully funded by the US Department of State. All expenses from accommodation, travel, insurance will be covered by the program.

Egilibity
- Be a YSEALI member. Join YSEALI at https://asean.usmission.gov/yseali/
- Be between the ages of 25-35 at the time of application
- A citizen and current resident of either: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam;
- Speak fluent English to work full time in a U.S. worksite;
- Currently employed and with at least two years of professional experience at the time of application;
- Interested in participating in a reciprocal program for Americans coming to your country;
- Have demonstrated leadership and collaborative skills;
