On the morning of July 1, 2023, the delegation of Central Union of Cuban Workers (CTC) led by Mr. Ulises Guilarte De Nacimiento, who is the Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Cuba, Member of the State Councilor, Delegate to the National Assembly of the People’s Government, Secretary General of CTC, Vice Chairman of the World Federation of Trade Unions, had a visit to Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU).
Welcoming the delegation, from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, there were Comrade and Vice Chairman Thai Thu Xuong, Comrade Nguyen Duc Thinh - Head of the Department of External Relations, and officials of the Department. On TDTU side, there were Dr. Vu Anh Duc, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council, Dr. Tran Trong Dao, Deputy Secretary and President, Dr. Vo Hoang Duy, Vice President, and Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hoa, Chairman of the University’s Trade Union, and leaders of related units.
The CTC delegation visited the typical works of TDTU such as the Inspire Library, the Sports Complex, the Vietnam - Finland International School, and the great hall. At the meeting with key leaders of TDTU, Mr. Ulises Guilarte De Nacimiento praised the University’s environmentally friendly architecture by the green space on campus, and especially the devotion and the collective efforts of the lecturers. He expected TDTU lecturers to continue to make intellectual contributions to the general development of Vietnam in the future.
Dr. Tran Trong Dao introduced the process of formation and achievements of the University after more than 25 years of development. The university wished to continue the cooperation with Cuban partners in the fields of education, research and training, which would facilitate and provide scholarships for students and researchers coming to Cuba for studying and researching in the future. He also hoped that this visit would bring many positive values to the delegation and promote the strong friendship between the two Parties, Vietnamese and Cuban.
Vietnam and Cuba are two socialist countries with good friendship, laid the foundation by President Ho Chi Minh and President Fidel Castro, and cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries. During their visit, the CTC delegation also worked with National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, a number of organizations, departments, and participated in the economic and commercial business forum of the two countries. CTC is expected to coordinate with Vietnam’s concerned agencies for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Cuban leader Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated zone in South Viet Nam in Quang Tri Province (September 1973 - September 2023).
