The Deputy Ambassador of New Zealand visits and works with Ton Duc Thang University

On September 24, 2020, the New Zealand diplomatic delegation consisted of Mr. Joseph Mayhew, Deputy Ambassador of New Zealand in Vietnam; Ms. Banh Pham Ngoc Van, Vietnam Market Director of Education New Zealand (ENZ); and Ms. Nguyen Lam Giang, Southeast Asia Regional Manager, the University of Waikato visited and worked with Ton Duc Thang University.Dr. Tran Trong Dao, TDTU Representative, welcomed and worked with the delegation.
The meeting took place right on the 23rd anniversary of TDTU’s establishment (September 24, 1997 - September 24, 2020). Right from the start, the Deputy Ambassador sent warm greetings to the lecturers, staff, and students of TDTU.
At the meeting, the delegation discussed the plan to build the New Zealand education center at TDTU.
TDTU is the first university in Vietnam and the second university in the world to deploy the cooperative educational model by ENZ.
The Deputy Ambassador highly appreciated the potential for cooperation between the two sides and said that the government of New Zealand as well its diplomatic departments in Vietnam are willing to effectively promote the cooperation process.
Dr. Tran Trong Dao expressed his expectation in this cooperation program. He also wished that in addition to the implementation of higher education programs, the two sides need to expand cooperation in many other fields such as scientific research, student exchange programs, cultural exchange between the two university systems. These activities will open up opportunities for Vietnamese students to access international standard education programs, and improve their skills to attract employers in the domestic and foreign labor markets.
In addition, he asked the Deputy Ambassador to introduce the University Consortium International (UCI) founded by TDTU to New Zealand universities, and invite them to join UCI to create a strong sustainable university community in order to develop together.
